What is error c1900107 while installing Windows 10



While upgrading from Windows 7 to 10, some users are getting the error “Windows 10 couldn’t be installed Errors found Code c1900107”. This error is similar to what happens when you get 0xc1900101 – 0x4000d error during the upgrade process. Here, I’ll be discussing the steps for fixing this error.

Causes of c1900107 error while installing Windows 10

  • Corrupt Windows 10 ISO/files.
  • Low storage space.
  • Too much junk in the Downloaded Installations and Software Distribution folder

Corrupt Windows 10 ISO/files

Sometimes the files being downloaded to your hard drive can get corrupted randomly. This can be because of bad sectors on the hard disk or some error while downloading the files. Since Windows 10 is generally provided by Microsoft as an update to the existing users via. the Windows updates, it can get messed up.

You can fix this problem by manually flushing the Windows Update cache and re-downloading the updated files.

  • On the lower left corner of the screen, right click and select Command Prompt (Admin).
  • Type “net stop wuauserv” (without quotes). Press enter. This will stop the update service from running in the background.
  • Now type “cd %systemroot%” (without quotes). Press enter. This command will navigate the command prompt to the installation directory of Windows OS.
  • Type “ren SoftwareDistribution SD.old” (without quotes). Press enter. By this command, the OS will generate the new SoftwareDistributions from the older distributions and will likely delete the older ones.
  • Lastly, type “net start wuaserv” (without quotes). Press enter. With this command, we will restart the update service in order to enable updates in the system.

Now go to the Windows update and click on Check for Updates. This will download all the files required for the update to Windows 10 on your PC via. updates.

Low Storage space on the C: Drive

Low storage space causes a lot of errors and slowdowns on Windows PCs. By using the internal Disk Cleanup tool, you can gain a lot of space depending on the files present on your PC.

  • Press Windows key and type “cleanup” (without quotes).
  • Select the Disk Cleanup desktop app and press enter.
  • Select the C: drive from the drop down menu.

  • Select all the checkboxes in the list and then click OK.

Junk in Downloaded Installations and SoftwareDistribution folders

The two folders called Downloaded Installations and SoftwareDistribution folders save a lot of files for internal working of Windows. But after some time, the files in them can get old and outdated. By clearing them we can gain a lot of storage space in our C: drive and refresh Windows by removing corrupt files.

Safe delete SoftwareDistribution Folder

  • Press Windows Key + R to open the Run box.
  • Type “C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution” (without quotes) and press enter.
  • Select all the files in this folder by pressing Ctrl + A.
  • Right-click on the selected files and then click on Delete.

This will clear all the junk from the SoftwareDistribution folder to free up some space in the C: drive. Now we clear the DownloadedInstallations folder.

Safe delete Downloaded Installations Folder

  • Press Windows Key + R to open the Run box.
  • Type “C:\Windows\Downloaded Installations” (without quotes) and press enter.
  • Select all the files in this folder by pressing Ctrl + A.
  • Right-click on the selected files and then click on Delete.

After clearing these folders and removing extra files from the hard drive, you will not get the c1900107 error while installing Windows 10 on your PC.
