Fix Freezing YouTube Videos in Chrome in Windows 10

Last Updated on October 27, 2016

Sometimes while playing videos on YouTube, you may have experienced freezing of the video stream while the audio plays normally. You are not alone. This is a very common problem with Chrome on Windows 10chrome

Whether it is a bad display driver or some obscure configuration of your computer that is causing this problem is not really clear.

The first thing that you should do is to update the display drivers for your hardware. Use the links below to download the latest one for your particular hardware you are rocking.

AMD  Nvidia  Intel

The second thing that you can do to fix the freezing video on YouTube is disabling hardware accelerated video decode. You can do that by using Chrome flags.

Manually paste chrome://flags/#disable-accelerated-video-decode in the address bar of Chrome and press Enter. On the highlighted value, click on Disable. This will toggle the setting and will turn it Enabled.

After that, restart your browser and try playing a video on YouTube. This time, the video will not freeze.
