Last Updated on July 28, 2017

Netflix app on both Xbox and PlayStation show the error “can’t connect to Netflix nw-2-5” error. Although this happens occasionally, the frustration caused by Netflix error code nw 2 5 is quite real.

If you are a regular user of the Netflix app on any of the two consoles, you’ll want to get rid of this error immediately. Here are some things that you can do to fix the Netflix nw-2-5 error.

Before you perform any of these methods, make sure that you read carefully what each one does. Since I can’t analyze your home network personally, these methods are generalizations on how you can fix the Netflix issue.

Fix for Netflix nw-2-5 Error

Method #1: Restart your Console:

This may come as a surprise, but a lot of times, these kinds of errors can be fixed by simply restarting your Xbox or PlayStation. The error nw-2-5 could be happening because of some background application, or something else on your console. Restarting just clears everything that can cause these issues.

Method #2: Restart your Router:

Every device in the chain is important. Your ISP, your home router, the wires and the console which you are trying to play Netflix on. If it’s something related to your router, the simplest way to counter the error nw-2-5 is by restarting it.

For restarting, don’t just simply turn off the power and switch it back on like you do with other electronics. Most routers have capacitors in them which can store electrical charge, so even after turning them off, the router keeps itself on. To counter that, you have to switch off the power of your internet router and then wait for 30-60 seconds before switching it back on.

Method #3: Check your internet speed:

Since most of the Netflix content has high bit rate, there are chances that your internet could have some problems handling it. Even on my 10Mbps connection, I occasionally get stutters and buffering. This problem will be worse for the people who have even slower internet connections.

To fix the Netflix error nw-2-5, try upgrading your internet connection to a suitable speed if you have a slow connection.

Method #4: Turn OFF parental control on your router

Again, this is related to your router. Some routers have parental controls which block the access to certain websites. If the router that you are using has blocked Netflix or any other domain from where Netflix serves its content, you can get error nw-2-5.

Disable parental controls on your router if you know how to do so. Otherwise, you can check the manual that comes with it. You can also try searching on Google on how to disable parental control on your router.

For that, type in your router name + disable parental control. You’ll get lots of written articles and video guides explaining the process.

Method #5: Disable Proxy

Proxy services can provide a lot of use, but for Netflix app, they can also cause errors. In this case, the error nw-2-5 can be something that might be because you are proxying to a location that isn’t supported by Netflix. Or, maybe something else is the reason, but try this one out.

Try disabling any VPN or proxy that you have set up on your router or the home network. That might fix your problem

These five are pretty much the most common issues which cause the Netflix nw-2-5 error on Consoles. If these methods don’t fix your problem, try the comments section and let me know what particular configuration you have for the network that you are using. I’ll help as much as I can.
