Windows 10 is full of ads everywhere and sometimes, they can get a little more than just annoying. A new addition to this annoyance is the addition of the “suggested” apps in the Windows Start Menu.
What happens here is that whenever you open the Start Menu, you’ll get a random app listed under the “Suggested” section in it. Often times, the apps listed are random games or PDF readers which no one is going to use.
Of course, there is no way in the Settings or the Control Panel for you to disable these ads without tinkering the registry. Here’s the fix for you if you don’t want these ads.
Removing the “Suggested” apps from Start Menu
- Press Windows + R to open the Run box. Type
regedit
and press Enter. - Navigate to the path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\
- Right-click on
...\Windows
key and go to New > Key. Give it a nameCloud Content
. - Now select
Cloud Content
and right-click on the empty space in the right. Go to New > DWORD (32-bit Value). - Name it
DisableWindowsConsumerFeatures
with the value1
. - Restart your Windows 10 PC and see the “Suggested” apps disappear from the Start Menu in Windows 10.
That’s it.
