God of War Ragnarok: Which Difficulty Setting to Choose

Last Updated on November 10, 2022

GOWR Change Difficulty: Are you trying to change the difficulty settings of God of War Ragnarok? Worry no more; my guide today will help you out.

Playing Ragnarok on a lower difficulty is a great way to enjoy the gameplay. You can breeze through the game and enjoy the storyline without worrying about complex challenges when playing on a lower difficulty.

The God of War Game is an action-adventure hack-and-slash video game developed by Santa Monica Studio and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE). The game is set in the world of Norse mythology and follows Kratos and his son. The 2018 game ended when Kratos discovered that his son was Loki, and we know the gods are not happy with him.

Enough about the game; let’s find out how we can change the difficulty in GOWR.

Difficulty Settings in God of War Ragnarok

The game has five settings to choose from;

Give Me Story: This setting focuses on the story, and combat is straightforward.

Give Me Grace: Focused on the story with little emphasis on combat.

Give Me Balance: Mixed Balance of Story-Focused Gameplay and Combat.

Give Me No Mercy: Demanding combat and higher difficulty enemies.

Give Me God of War: It makes the game as difficult as possible. This mode can only be selected when starting a new game.

How To Change Difficulty in GOWR

To change the difficulty of the game:

Press the Options Button on your Dualsense Controller > Select “Gameplay” > There will be a difficulty option right on top. You can switch between different modes, as mentioned in the earlier section of this article.

Note: God of War difficulty can only be selected when starting a new game.

Trophy Hunters will find it easy to play the game on harder difficulty as they have something to go for. I like to play the game on lower difficulty as I want to enjoy the storyline rather than struggle to take down enemies. The struggle is evident as I am a PC gamer who doesn’t like playing with controllers.

PS4 users are currently facing issues while trying to run the game; this is something everyone would have expected; PS4 is a ten-year-old machine and has been dragging down game development for years. Here are a few tweaks that PS4 users can perform to fix their issues.
