‘Whoa! Cyberpunk 2077 has flatlined’ Error

Last Updated on January 6, 2022

Some users are facing this new issue where the Whoa! Cyberpunk 2077 error will pop up randomly. In this article, we will find out a few workarounds for fixing these issues.

Cyberpunk 2077 is a title that needs no introduction, everyone in the gaming world knows about this title from CD Projekt Red. The main reason why everyone has high hopes from this game is the game is built by the same studios behind the Witcher 3. The game has been in the works since 2012, there have been numerous delays, the release date has been pushed a bunch of times already. However, the day has come, the game is finally released.

Similar to every AAA title, this game is not free from problems. Initial reviews and impressions have detailed that there are issues in the game, bugs, and weird things that we’ll report as we’ll find out. Problems aren’t exactly new for AAA titles, problems are known to arise since developers can’t test the games on a huge set of machines. The configuration of every PC is so different that the developers cannot actually test everything. That’s why developers take reports and push patches in the following days.

‘Whoa! Cyberpunk 2077 has flatlined’ error fix for PC

Here are a few things that you need to do to fix this issue, follow the things given below one by one and your issue should be gone.

Disable Steam/Gog Overlay

The game is available on both Steam and GOG, both of these launchers have a overlay which is made for player convenience. Go ahead and disable the overlay while playing the game and your issue should be fixed.

Update Device Drivers

Whenever a new game makes it’s arrival, especially when it’s a AAA title, Nvidia is known for pushing their optimized updates for the best performance with their graphic cards. I am not sure about AMD because I’ve never used an AMD card. Below are the links for downloading the latest drivers.

Since this is a AAA title, I am sure Nvidia will be pushing an update with compatibility for this game. Make sure to keep an eye on your device driver updates.

Disable Overclocking Applications

If you’re facing the crashing issue with your game, then I’d recommend you to check for any overclocking related apps running. 9 out of 10 times, the problem is caused by MSI Afterburner or the Zotac Firestorm. Turning them off or toning down the overclocking settings should fix the problem.

Repair Cyberpunk 2077 Game Files

If you still haven’t been able to successfully fix your game, the last resort would be repairing or reinstalling the game. To repair the game, follow the steps given below:

Steam:

  • Launch Steam Launcher
  • Go To Library and Select “Cyberpunk 2077”
  • Right Click > Properties > Local Files
  • Click on “Verify Integrity of game files”
  • This will take a while. Steam will verify your game files and download and replace any corrupted ones.

Gog:

  • Start GOG Launcher
  • Head to the Library
  • Right-click on “Cyberpunk 2077” > Manage Installation
  • Select “Verify/Repair”
  • The launcher will start verifying the game files. In case there’s something broken, the launcher will take care of it.

Launch the game and your issue should be fixed.
