How To Fix Steam Connection Timeout Error in MW2

Last Updated on October 26, 2022

Modern Warfare 2 Campaign is finally available for those who pre-ordered the game. However, some users are getting timeout errors while trying to download it. In this article, I will talk about fixing this.

Whenever you try to download COD MW2, the download will start by saying “Starting Download” and will fail soon after. Many players are stuck in this loop, and it is a frustrating experience.

Fix Connection Timeout on Steam

There are multiple reasons why this could be happening. One is, the game is one of the most anticipated titles of the year, and it is putting stress on Steam servers. Another one is the download cache of the Steam client.

Here are the fixes for both:

Change Download Region in Steam

  • Launch Steam Client
  • Click on Settings
  • Locate the Downloads tab and click on it
  • Now, locate the “Clear Download Cache” Button and click it. Your steam client will be logged out and restarted.

Try downloading the game again; for me, the issue was fixed after doing this. If you are still facing the problem, continue reading.

Change Steam Download Region

  • Launch Steam Client
  • Click on Settings
  • Locate the Downloads tab and click on it
  • Now, under “Download Region,” select any region from your area that should be different from the current one.
  • Press “Ok”

The download should begin again.

With each new year comes a new Call of Duty game. While some gamers get tired of the same franchise churning out new titles year after year, others can’t get enough of it. For many, the excitement of a new Call of Duty game is in anticipation of what’s to come. Will there be any major changes to the gameplay? What new maps and modes will be added? And most importantly, which iconic characters will make a return? With each new installment, there’s always something to look forward to.

The game just came out and will have a lot of issues. But this is the multiplayer launch, and I feel like multiplayer would be a more extensive test.

Are you excited about Call of Duty this year?
