Best Strand Titan Build for PvE & PvP

Strand Titan Build: Lightfall has finally arrived in Destiny 2, bringing a slew of balancing, quality of life changes, and the newest Darkness subclass: Strand. However, to the dismay of many Titan mains, Bungie has also gone ahead and nerfed the most adored Heart of Inmost Light (HOIL, in short) exotic chest armor to the point that most other exotics now outshine it. But don’t fret, fellow Titan! We’re here to help you become the best again.

The introduction of a new subclass, complete with its unique set of Aspects and Fragments and the most recent adjustments to armors and armor mods, means that new possibilities have opened up for build crafting in Destiny.

This guide will cover the best Strand Titan Build for both PvE and PvP!

Best Strand Titan Build for PvE (Gambit, Strikes & Raids)

This Titan build focuses on keeping the class ability (barricade) up at all times, allowing you to keep your enemies suspended in the air indefinitely using the new Abeyant Leap exotic leg armor.

  • Super: Bladefury
  • Ability: Rally Barricade
  • Melee: Frenzied Blade
  • Grenade: Shackle Grenade
  • Aspect #1: Into the Fray
  • Aspect #2: Drengr’s Lash
  • Fragment #1: Thread of Mind
  • Fragment #2: Thread of Warding
  • Fragment #3: Thread of Fury
  • Fragment #4: Thread of Finality
  • Weapon: Void Weapon (preferably with the Repulsor Brace perk)
  • Armor Stats: 100 Resilience, 100 Discipline, Max Strength
  • Exotic Armor: Abeyant Leap

Note: Several Strand Fragments are currently locked, with some unlocking on March 3 and others after completing the World First Raid, which begins on March 10. I’ll update this guide as they become available at the Pouka Pond!

Mod Configuration

  • Helmet: Hands-On + Void Siphon
  • Chest: Charged Up + Damage Resistance Mods
  • Gauntlets: 2x Focusing Strike + Bolstering Detonation
  • Boots: Orbs of Restoration + Stacks on Stacks + Insulation
  • Mark: 3x Utility Kickstart

Understanding the Build

As mentioned earlier, the goal of this Strand Titan build is to immobilize anything that moves by “suspending” them in the air every time you cast your class ability. This is made possible by the ‘Drengr’s Lash’ aspect, which is enhanced even further by the new exotic armor, Abeyant Leap. All the armor mods in the build work towards maintaining a constant uptime on your barricade by utilizing the Armor Charge mechanic.

I recommend picking up the new ‘Volatile Flow’ artifact mod and using the Void Siphon mod to generate the orbs of power needed to activate this armor charge, but you can also use any other good ad-clearing weapon (like the IKELOS SMG or CALUS Mini-Tool) combined with the appropriate siphon mod if you prefer!

Because you can keep spamming your barricade and effectively suspend even the most powerful opponents, such as Champions and shielded combatants, this build is incredibly effective in endgame PvE content. ‘Suspend’ also stuns the heavy-hitting Unstoppable Champions, allowing you to eliminate them as a threat to your fireteam on your own. Finally, ‘Woven Mail’ will proc every time you kill a suspended target, increasing your damage resistance and survivability.

Best Strand Titan Build for PvP (Crucible & Trials of Osiris)

This build utilizes the Dunemarchers Exotic Leg Armor to enhance your Frenzied Blade melee and Bladefury super and includes several PvP-based armor mods to help in gunfights.

  • Super: Bladefury
  • Ability: Rally Barricade
  • Melee: Frenzied Blade
  • Grenade: Grapple
  • Aspect #1: Into the Fray
  • Aspect #2: Drengr’s Lash
  • Fragment #1: Thread of Mind
  • Fragment #2: Thread of Wisdom
  • Fragment #3: Thread of Warding
  • Fragment #4: Thread of Ascent
  • Weapon: Any
  • Armor Stat Priority: Resilience > Recovery > Discipline
  • Exotic Armor: Dunemarchers

Note: You will be able to unlock the full potential of this PvP build once all the Strand fragments are available for purchase following the World First Raid completion!

Mod Configuration

  • Artifact Mods: Authorized Mods: Solar & Grenades
  • Helmet: 3x Weapon Targeting Mods
  • Gauntlets: 2x Grenade Kickstart + Weapon Loader Mod
  • Chest: 2x Unflinching Aim
  • Boots: 2x Holster Mods + Weapon Surge
  • Cloak: 3x Utility Kickstart

Understanding the Build

  • Dunemarchers is an all-rounder Exotic leg armor that you can use with any Titan subclass, shining the brightest in subclasses like Strand, which features a strong melee ability and a roaming Super.
  • Casting a barricade in the direction of an enemy will “suspend” them, immobilizing them and preventing them from aiming down sights. Finish any trapped opponents with precision attacks to get Thread of Wisdom and Warding, which work together to improve damage resistance and make you tankier.
  • Although the new Grapple ability has a disappointingly long cooldown, it is undoubtedly the best movement ability in the game. Once mastered, it can help you get the upper hand on your opponents. You can always switch to an actual grenade if grappling’s not your thing, though!

These were the best builds for Strand Titan; I’ve also covered builds for Warlock and Hunter. Do check them out.
