How To Change Server Region in Destiny 2

Last Updated on February 20, 2022

Destiny 2 on Battle.net launcher was different; changing servers was straightforward. But that is not the case anymore; Steam doesn’t allow changing of servers, the client doesn’t have any option to change per game server settings. You get games based on your location; for example, if I am from Australia, I’ll be matched up with people of NA.

People who used to cheese for pinnacle weapons can’t do it anymore since the regions are fixed, and Chinese/Asian servers will be full of Asian people. The only problem players like me will face here are the names that I can’t pronounce, and the servers are full of people who can’t speak English.

This article will find out our workaround for changing servers in Destiny 2. It’s pretty simple but not free and requires a VPN. The only reason I am doing this is that Destiny 2’s crucible is now full of Chinese hackers; no one can deny this. Destiny 2 PvP YouTuber found a hacker in his team, steamrolling through all the enemy team while running around with insane speeds.

How To Change Server Region in Destiny 2 Steam

We’ll have to fool steam and switch to somewhere we’re not to change our location. To make this happen, we need a VPN. Below are a few VPN recommendations that you can check and get going.

  1. NordVPN – One of the best in the game, you can use this to access Netflix of other regions as well. So gaming and good entertainment both at the same time. NordVPN also has one of the best server speeds.
  2. PrivateInternetAccess – Cheap and good, both at the same time. I’ve been using this service for more than 2 years and it does well for its job.
  3. ExpressVPN – Another solid contender, a premium service. Offers what every other VPN does, high-speed, security, anonymity all at the same time.

All the recommendations made in this article are made after due diligence and testing. I’ve tried over 10 VPN services, and only three of these were reliable and good enough for my taste.

If you don’t have a VPN at your disposal, you might get disappointed to know that there’s no way for you to change your server. This is positive and negative both; positive because there’s more player population in every server instance, the negative, you can’t choose what server you want to play on.

Do let us know if you’ve tried and tested any more of these services. We’ll be happy to hear about them in the comment section below.
